Masking tape residue

I've had good luck with a product called Goo  Gone.  It's a citrus based liquid that comes in a plastic bottle and is sold in lumber yards and hardware stores.  just apply it with a cloth and it will usually lift the tape residue off (sometimes you will need to rub a little).

A word of warning - there is a product out there called Goo Off which comes in a small metal tin - Don't, I say again - Don't try to use that stuff on your model - it immediately removes the paint and than eats the styrene!

I should have mentioned when I recommended alcohol that I use primarily enamels and lacquers on my models. Alcohol may be hard on some acrylics, so one should try a sample before using alcohol on acrylic paints.

Stick with Tamiya masking tape, problem avoided. I like to mask wheel wells by filling them with dampened toilet paper.

    What I do in a situation like this is simple .I get some of the same tape and then Gently burnish it over the spot and folding the tape over itself non-sticky sides together and gently pull the stuff up

Did you try pressing another piece of tape on top of the residue, then pulling it up?  Sometimes that removes the sticky left-overs.

Of course, sometimes it doesn't--an event that happened to me just last week.  In which case, Don's idea is something to try.

I use isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol to remove the gunk.  Works with any masking tape I have used.

This is regular masking tape I was using.
