Holding out for black friday?
Posted by DiscoStu on Thursday, November 21, 2013 3:13 PM

3 questions:

  1. Anyone know of any upcoming black Friday deals? (Looking at you Squadron/Sprue........)
  2. Anyone know of any new releases that may hit in time for Friday?  I'm eying the Kittyhawk Voodoo but have yet to see a release date.
  3. What are you loading into your cart this week?

I'll admit I already got suckered into Squadron's 48hr 28% off "pre-black friday" sale and snagged an Airfix Lancaster and Hasegawa Draken but I held short in loading up.  The past two years Squadron has had some pretty good black Friday deals (Though last years' wasn't as good as the year prior)  So after I completed my purchase I started loading up the cart with items I'll want come next Friday.  I threw in some accessories I wanted plus some kits I've never built before.  Now I just and wait for a deal that I hope comes.

Anyone else doing the same?

Unfortunately Squadron doesn't have the type of stuff I'm after. Now if only Ebay or Ultracast.ca would off Black Friday savings...

I was holding out for Squadron as well. Like you DiscoStu I went ahead and placed my Squadron order during the 28% off sell.

Even with Squadron's so called discounts, Scale Hobbyist's normal prices are about the same or very close to Squadron's. I don't deal with SBros anymore due to a very poor customer service incident.

Just a heads up guys. Squadron's running a 50% off an order over $500 or more until 3PM CST today. A lot of stuff is already out of stock. But at least I finally got a Tamiya 1/32 Phantom and 1/.48 Betty. Now I have to figure out how to explain the huge boxPropeller

Yeah, I got that e-mail too.   Gave me a great opportunity to binge on some kits I've otherwise would have passed on:

  • Kittyhawk Gripen
  • Trumpeter P-40B
  • Eduard I-16 Profi
  • Eduard FW-190D Profi
  • Trumpeter Vampire
  • Tamiya Storch

Those plus a ton of PE, Brassin resin, and masks.  I had made a deal with the wife that I would save for these sales this week but then behave (Read: sneak in) the rest of the year.
