As far as scale, 1/35 scale is the most popular armor scale and as such has the greatest variety of kits. As stated, Tasca is the gold standard in Sherman tanks, but are around $50+ for a kit.

Dragon's Shermans are very good, but often "graduate level" builds with tons of parts and often errors on the instruction sheets. Dragon's Sherman kits are comprised of sprues from various Sherman kits (sort of a mix and match approach) which is the reason why the parts count are high. Because of this, not all Dragon Sherman's are created equal. But they have the widest variety of Sherman tanks spanning the original early war versions through the "chop shop" modifications used the the Israelis into the 1970s.

I agree that Tamiya has several older Sherman kits that are easier to build and more enjoyable. They also produce a few 1/48 scale tanks that are pretty good as well. Tamiya also has a couple of brand new Israeli Shermans that are quite expensive.

Thank you Tojo72, I'll be sure to check these out.  Hopefully they'll have some great sales going on this weekend.

Tasca and Dragon make a line of many Sherman variants, they tend to have a high parts count but build into impressive detailed models.

Tamiya's old M4A3 is a venerable older kit which is simpler, less detailed, but none the less a good simple build.

So it depends on what you want to spend, and what you skill level is.

Good online suppliers are Spruebrothers,Redfroghobbies,Freetime Hobbies,Squadron,Dragonusaonline, all of which are probably having good sales this week

I'm looking to build a detailed Sherman tank next after I build an Oldsmobile 442 model which happens to be my first model build after a 40 year sabbatical but I'm not sure what manufacturer of military scale models are good ones nowadays,

Any suggestion on a good manufacturer of military scale models?
also what's a good scale to build for armor ?
and one more question would be what's a good online store to purchase them from?

if any of you could help I would appreciate it.
Unfortunately there's no hobby shops anywhere close to me at all so everything I purchase has to be online.

Thank you in advance
Richie
