I take it you are talking about sheet stock.  Depends on the thickness.  Thinner stuff up to 1/16 inch can be cut with good scissors.  Thicker stuff can be scored with a knife, flexed to break, for straight lines.  Thicker stuff yet can be cut with jig saw or hack saw.

Depends. To cut parts off the sprue, I only use a high quality sprue cutter, not a general purpose side cutter! To cut and shape stock styrene, I'll use anything from a scriber to a #11 blade, or even a hobby scissors.

finally bought some styrene to try some things., I thought it was more like polystyrene found out it's like plastic is there a special cutter, or do you use side cutters and file smooth., or do you very carefully use a very sharp knife.
