Well, its that time of year again. After doing only 4 builds in 2012, this year has been far more productive with 9, and one of those took a quarter of the year.
So this is what I have completed this year. All builds are 1/72nd scale.
The year started off with what is still my favourite build. The Academy Ju 87G-1 for the Ground attack GB.
Next, Airfix F-86. This was built for the My First Time GB. I wasn't all that happy with this build. I was having drama's with the Alclad and the 30 year Airfix decals show there age. But it was nice to build this again, this was the kit that got me into the hobby.
This one was really out of my comfort zone. My other half got it for my birthday in 2012. She thought all those wires looked nice. . I built this for the My Gift GB and the FSM WW1 Aviation GB. And I am really glad I did as the guys there were a great help, as always.
Airfix 0/400
Next up, Academy's Fw 190A-6 for Mustang's awesome Fw 190 GB, still going string.
Now this aircraft is one I had wanted in 72nd scale for a while but never kew it existed. When I stumebled on it on E-bay in Jan, I snapped it up. And then along came the excuse to build it, the RD IV GB and the 1/72nd mania GB.
MPM Me 262A-2a/U2
Next up a couple of biggy's. Hasegawa B-24D Lead Ship for the Still Too Many Props GB. This is another build in my Norfolk Airfields project, and probably the less colourful of Lead Ships.
Next up was a real labour of love. I had expected this to take 2 months, it took 3 and a half. Hasegawa He 111Z for the Twin Boom GB.
From the largest to the smallest This Imperial Probe Droid for the Hollywood GB had 9 parts and took about 20 mins to assemble. For the base I wanted to avoid the obvious snow and ice of Hoth.
And finally, finished just this afternoon after two days of frantic modelling to get it done in time for the 1943 GB, Hasegawa Me 109G-6/R6 Trop
When all is said and done, I am really happy with what I have build this year. I have tried out some new things, picked up some tips, had plenty of fun and really enjoyed hanging out with you guys.
So come on, lets see some more threads with what you have built this year.
And onwards to 2014.
