Airbrush Setup

I also airbrush at my bench in the basement  with no problems.The thing you have to think about is problems you might encounter in a regular room.Safety shouldn't be an issue as there shouldn't be much overspray if you do it right,but what about accidents,if you spill the paint or drop a bottle or jar,what's gonna be damaged,even if you are careful,will overspray damage anything like the appliances you mentioned or furniture and carpeting.everything has some risks,so the question is how do you,or anyone you live with feel about possible oops that may happen.

First of all, I'll mention the painting and airbrushing forum.  This forum is often overlooked because it is at the far bottom of the FSM forums.  However, it is full of really good advise and I urge you to give it a try.

That being said, there are/have been some recent threads about airbrushing overspray and need for a spray booth when airbrushing. I agree with Gary.  While I have a spray booth I only use it for rattle cans.  I do my airbrushing right at my building bench, with no booth there. I ordinarily get so little overspray that it is not a problem.  I do have to be careful to avoid having another model or another subassembly directly on the bench behind where I spray, but I usually notice that immediately.

You don't need a dedicated space for airbrushing.  If you're getting "over-spray" while airbrushing, then you're probably spraying at too much pressure.   As is often mentioned here, don't think of the AB as a "spray gun" but as a brush that can be adjusted.  I paint almost  exclusively with enamel paint, without a spray booth, and it has never been a problem for me or my family.  Ymmv...
