I almost always find that clubs like these are a bit of a joke and little more than a slick ploy to squeeze a few more dollars (or whatever currency) out of the consumer.

Yeah, I know what you mean.  Being part of "The Club" has no appeal to me.  The few things that caught my eye were the magazine, the calendar and the discounts.  But the magazine is only three issues, the calendar is just a calendar and any discount would be more than offset by their crazy-high shipping to the US.

I guess I knew the answer...I just really like the look of this year's kit!  Stick out tongue  If anyone IS a member...I'd be happy to give you $22 for it!  Wink

They know that it makes a guy feel like he has an "in" with the manufacturer - some sort of advantage over the average Joe, and that appeals to us.

Is it worth the money?....it's worth it to Airfix. That's why they came up with "the club"

I saw that, thought I'd get my son a membership, but the price is too high for what you get.

What is your opinion of the Airfix Club?

I am looking for opinions from any modelers who are, or have been, members of the Official Airfix Club.  I guess I want to know if it's worth the money.  If I lived in the UK, I'd say the "price is right".  But, outside Europe it costs about $22 for the standard club (with "download only" magazine) and about $44 when you add the club model; which for 2014 is a nice looking, two-airplane "Operation Torch" kit in 1:72...which is my scale!Yes

So, what are your thoughts?  I'd say the extra $22 is quite fair for the kit (shipping is included).  But, do you think the $22 "base" price is worth it?

Here  is the link for anyone who is interested.
