Deal with model magazines, oppinions please

Please tell me your thoughts:

Do you consider an honnest proposition to both parties the trade of an article made by the modeler (and also accepted by the editor for publication) for an anual subscription of the same model magazine?

I think it is a good deal to both, but would like to ear your opinions and other variants/stories you may know

How does things work with Finescale?

Thank you! Smile [:)]

Nuno,
My opinion depends on the magazine. Most companies that pay for an article will pay much more than the price of a subscription. Right now, FSM is looking for Readers Tips. They will pay $25 or $35 if you have a picture or image. That will get you a subscription if you use the coupon in the magazine. I understand the pay is much higher for a full article (but having never sold one, don't have that info).
Now , if you were doing it for a smaller magazine or a club mag, a subscription might be a good compromise for both parties.
