Your Favorite Modeling Guides/Tips

I have no connection to FSM, but the mag is a great source of tips and discussions.  There are several columns in the mag on these. Second, I find model clubs a great source.  Some model clubs have presentations and discussions regularly, some don't.  Still, most have show and tells, and you can always as the modeler how he did a certain effect. I think model clubs are a super resource that you should always avail yourself of if there are any in your area.

The best resource is here. The tips database or just plain posing a question. As you indicated, people are more than willing to answer questions.

The best tips is keep it simple.  When I first started, I tried getting into all these crazy tips and processes and all that, but best tip is stay within your skill and keep it fun.    Here is a good example.   I was working on a 1/32 Bae Hawk.   It had a seem down the center.  But it was tight.   Everyone said, fill with putty and sand.  That is a very tough technique to master and if you are not an expert  9/10 times it will actually make your model worse.   So I stayed within my skill and did not fill the seem.  My model looks better for it.    Keep it simple.   first few models,  use a nail file,  model cement,  x-acto knofe and use spray cans.    Then next few models try an airbrush, but keep it simple.  Over time your skills and models will get better.   Avoid the next hot tip.  Its like golf tips, everyone has a better idea, but do your self a favor an stick to basics.
