Hey thanks guys!!!

Pretty old Trumpeter kit here, a 1/35th Chinese Type-59 MBT. Yeah I've seen this kind of grease on ICM and Eastern Express kits but this is the first time on a Trumpeter.

It's funny, detergent has always worked before but this stuff is really thick. This evening I gave up and sprayed the thing with Fantastic. It's drying right now. I hadn't thought about alcohol- if the Fantastic doesn't work I'll give it a try. I'll try TSP if it doesn't do the job.

Again thanks a million everyone!!!

Sounds like an ICM kit.

I'd stay away from any kit that has to be pre-washed. Because if that is the best product they can put in a kit, where else have they cut corners.

TSP is a water soluble cleaner used before painting house interiors etc. Try some and dish soap in hot water. Rinse with hot water and air dry on a paper towel or clean cloth. This works for resin which is know to be harder to clean release agent grease from.

Ditto on the isopropyl alcohol.

I generally wash in dishwasher detergent and water. If there is any film remaining I clean off with isopropyl alcohol.

Not sure where I should post this so I'm going to give it a shot here.

Just picked up an older Chinese made kit and it's really oily almost greasy. I've washed the kit off with dish washing detergent twice and it still seems oily to the touch. I've noticed this on some older Russian/Eastern European kits too though not this bad.

Should I look into some industrial strength detergent or something here? I haven't tried anything like laundry detergent or maybe spot remover or something like that?
