It is the program you use to access the internet. In the old days it would be something like AOL or Prodigy. Today, most computers use some version of Microsoft's Internet Explorer because that is what most non-Apple computers come pre-loaded with.

Many people change to Google Chrome's browser, Firefox, Mozilla, or any other browser.

I think Rob's idea of trying a different browser regarding your punctuation, spacing, paragraph trouble is a great one. Hope it works out for you.

The main ones are Explorer (Microsoft)  and the icon is blue 'e'   ,

Chrome which icon is a circle

and Firefox which icon is a blue circle with a brown fox curved on the bottom side

..

I use Chrome and have no problems with punctuation or starting new lines, etc

It's the "E" guy that needs FSM to be added to compatibility view to stop formatting from disappearing.

Roadrunner/TWC is your internet provider (the guys you pay to allow you to access the world wide web). I'd just download and install Google Chrome or one of the other ones, use that to post in the test forum and see if it fixes your issue.

I used to use IE but had problems on other sites and switched to Chrome, but I never had a formatting problem at this or other forums.

Try Mozilla Firefox.  I've used it for many years and never once had a problem.

What version of Internet Explorer are you using?

If it isn't at least 11 you may need to update it.

Some, but not all browsers "borrow" information from IE. So if IE isn't working right any other browser dependent upon on it will also have problems.

I'm not sure to what extent Chrome and Firefox use IE data. I know Chrome doesn't have its own network settings. It gets them from IE or Windows. However IE and Windows are tightly integrated.

I'm no computer whizz either. What I do know is that Firefox works beautifully and it's easy to install - in about two minutes. Just go to the website and follow the simple instructions.

Sorry, didn't mean to sound so confusing. Being in IT for over 35 years its easy to throw terms out there and  then have to be reminded not everyone speaks "geek".

Not sure what you have tried to solve your issue or if it has been solved. I would try fixes in this order. These are the quickest, easiest fixes, not necessarily the best fixes.

IE=Internet Explorer

NOTE----The following steps are based on using Windows 7. However it should also work on XP and Vista. Windows 8 should also be very similar.

If updating IE didn't work, didn't try it or didn't need it.

1. Install one of the popular browser alternatives Firefox or Google Chrome. Find their install page using Google and follow their directions.

If that don't work.

2. Compatibility view settings. Do this by opening IE. On the toolbar at the top left click on "Tools". On this pop up window about halfway down is "Compatibility view settings", click on this. In the next pop up window under "Add this website" type www.finescale.com, then click "Add". It should show up in a box below where you just typed. Below this box place checks in the boxes "Display intranet sites in compatibility view" and "Use Microsoft Compatibility lists". Click "Close".

Close and reopen IE and see if the problem is still there.

Note-----Using Compatibility view "MAY" cause other problems with some websites.

3. Delete IE "History".

Do this by opening IE. On the toolbar at the top left click on "Tools". Next at the bottom of that window that pops up click on "Internet Options". A little over half way down the next pop up window find "Browsing History", In the same area should be a button that says "Delete". Click this button. Still another window will pop open!!! The 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th boxes SHOULD have a checkmark in them. It is very important that these are the ONLY 4 boxes with checkmarks in them. Click the "Delete" button.

Close and reopen IE and see if the problem is still there. NOTE: there are several ways to delete the history. The result is the same.

BTW---

URL- Uniform Resource Locator

Think of this as an address or phone number to a website. www.finescale. com is the URL for this website. Every website has a unique URL.

IPO- Initial Public Offering, for the stock market ?????????????????????

Mitsdude is right.  Tankerbuilder, I have a strong suspicion that the problem is not with how you're posting stuff, but in how it's showing up on your computer.  I suspect that if you go to the Firefox website and follow the instructions for downloading Firefox, everything will be fine - if you'll also break the habit of hitting the space bar before punctuation marks.

Tankerbuilder, on my phone your last post looks fine (except for one extra space at the very end). Your problem is not in how your stuff is being posted, but in how your computer is showing it. Get Firefox and - I'm 99% sure - the problem will go away.

Later edit: I just edited this post to fix a typographical error. We all make them, fer cryin' out loud.

Firefox. My IT tells me it has the better security options of the main browsers.
