Yeah;

   The bad thing is ,when I back off,at my age ,my mind wanders and I have a hard time getting it back .The last time it was stuck in a " Kindle" book for three days. When it wanders like that I have to send out mental search parties ! lol lol lol

Indeed.  I see two faces to patience.  In some cases I want to rush ahead, or to keep working when my fingers and attention ability is telling me to stop.  The other is sometimes a tricky operation causes me to want to put model up on a shelf, and I need to take a deep breath, slow down, and force myself to keep at it to get over the hump.

The hardest thing for me is knowing when to quit.  The more I tweak a model at the final stages, the better the chance of messing it up.  Need to know when good enough is enough, and declare it finished.

Gimme a pigfoot, and a bottle of beer...

That's when you feel like this:

And there's almost always something that can go wrong at the last stage; must be another corollary of Murphy's Law.

I sometimes feel like that. It's akin to what Curly felt when "Pop Goes The Weasel" played.

I'm going through it right now. I'm sitting there spraying away and have to step back for a few cause I notice I'm starting to put paint on a little thicker than I should. 10 minute break, relax, get back to it and everything goes on nice. Starting to get a little tunnel vision

I build more than 1 model at a time.

That way there is always something to do in my 1-2 hour sessions when I actually do have a chance to build. I have found that I can paint a lot of things that need to be black in one session, and then go do completely different parts , trimming and painting those.

After all, that is how the real things were built,,,,engines here, tires mounted there, bodies and frames there, bombs shipped in from,,,,,,,,,,,,you get it.

I do concentrate on just one kit when it gets to the point that all the painting is done, and it is time for final assembly after decaling. That way I don't end up with Skyhawk landing gear on a Crusader or something, lol.

Me too.

Reminds me of flying, we used to call making bad "go" decisions when we should stay "get home I-tis'. I have 'get done I-tis' with models sometimes. Actually going through it with one now. :)

Do you ever get to the painting stage of a model and start to feel yourself anticipating the finality of the project. You actually have to force yourself to stop for a day or so to "slow down" before you end up screwing it up?  Happens to me all of the time. Just sayin
