Monogram 1/48 KINGFISHER OS2U-3.
Posted by rmontesb on Monday, January 12, 2015 11:42 PM

Hello and Happy 2015 to you all!

I recently purchased on ebay a Monogram 1/48 Kingfisher OS2U-3.

The model can be built as either a seaplane or land plane version; unfortunately, the kit that I received is missing two parts: one dolly side (part 26), for the seaplane version and tail wheel (part 47), for the landplane version.

This means that I cannot build neither version in full :(

Does any body out here has any of these parts in their spare parts box?

Actually I might have those parts available.  I have the same kit that had the photoetch fret in the box.  If I still have them, you can have both pieces.  I built my kit as the  seaplane version and didnt use the dolly or the tailwheel.

I bought a Revell 1/48 O2SU to build but the interior is rather basic.   I ordered one from  Lone Star models  but it never arrived and Lone Star subsequently refunded my money.  ( I guess he didn;t want to make one )  I found one on Ebay for $99.00..nuts !

Does anyone have any other resources or interior parts that may fit , or scratch build info I might refer to ?

Montes

If you can't get the parts from Jell then drop Revell a parts request as it's been reissued by them.

I spoke to Mike West the last day of the 2012  Nats in Orlando as I wanted the interior for the Kingfisher. He had none there but told me to contact him in a week or so later and he would sell me the interior with free shipping which he did. He still has the interiors for $22 or so  he may even wave the shipping due to your prior  problem of not receiving your order. Mike is a really nice guy.

In my opinion it would be preferable to build the floater.

Making up a dolly should be pretty simple, esp. if you have the other side.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

I was able to get Montes the parts that I hadnt used.  My Kingfisher kit basically became a test model for painting techniques.  I had the specific parts that he was looking for as well as the kit decals and the small fret of photoetch that came with the kit.  He should definitely be able to put it to good use.  I've had a couple of people here help me out with things at no charge, this was my way of paying it forward.
