No clue where this "should" be posted but I figured I'd get go exposure to the question here. Cracked the windscreen on my 1/32 Corsair right down the middle. Anyone have experience with getting replacement parts from Tamiya? Do I have to contact Japan or is there a contact here in the States? Or is this just a pipe dream and I am TS outta luck.

I've had some experience ordering replacement parts Marc. A little over 2 yrs ago I ordered a replacement sheet of decals for their P-47D. You can find their customer service contact info on the Tamiya USA site. The phone # is 1-800-826-4922 (1-800-TAMIYA-A). I called and got the USA distributor. Now, here's the rub. If they have your part in stock or a kit they can get it out of then you are good to go. But, if they do not have it in stock then they have to order it from Japan which takes months. My experience was of the not in stock kind. They informed me that it would take around 3 months to get my decal sheet. As I was not in a real hurry I ran with it. Approx. 1 year later I received the decal sheet in the mail. Heck, by then I'd forgotten I'd even ordered them. There was a small charge for the replacement. So, for your sake, I do hope they have a canopy in stock. Good Luck my friend.

I've only had to contact Tamiya once to replace a road wheel I lost while building their 1/35 King Tiger. They politely informed me on the phone that I would have to purchase the entire sprue rather than just a single part. I'm not certain if the policy has changed since then, but please be aware that Tamiya may require that you purchase all of the parts which came on the sprue with your canopy.

See page 24 of the USMC GB, first post. BrandonK needed some replacement decals from Tamiya and got them really fast. He may be a good source of contact info for you.

Marc

Have a look at the links below. I know they are for the Trumpeter kit but it may be easier if Tamiya can't supply one

www.ebay.com/.../301512213900

Or you could buy the Revell kit and just use the canopy which would look to be about the same cost!

I've had tremendous success with the Tamiya USA folks. They have replaced a damaged set of decals for one model and a very small piece I broke on another one. I think they have a pretty extensive set of replacement parts at their California location. Just call  (800) 826-4922 and explain your need. They may have to sell you the entire sprue your piece is on, but at least you'll get it.

Tamiya will replace the part. They have excellent customer relations. I have dropped them emails directly to their Japan website and have gotten my replacements within 3 to 5  weeks.

Can't thank you guys enough for all the responses.    Being the clear parts it's a small sprue, not that it would have made a difference.  I'd buy the whole sprue if need be no matter what. Parts in stock?  That cold go either way.  It's a new release so are they stocked up to meet the demand or sold out already.

Really got to thank you guys.  The kits is so new they said they don't have parts yet.  But the CSR put me on hold and found a clear sprue missing some parts already but still had to one i need and it's on its way.

I also have had very positive experiences with Tamiya's Customer Service. They truly are top notch in my dealings with them!
