KIT: Tamiya 1:48 P-47D Thunderbolt
Well it's hardly going to win any competitions, but it was sure fun building this kit which is rewarding enough. Being my very first kit in a long time, I referred to our forum and You Tube for a continuous stream of information for techniques and ideas. As mentioned before in previous post, I had my fair share of FUBAR moments, but I was able to correct, revise or hide some of these issues, however, some I was not. The good news is, I know what I did wrong in most cases, though, it was too late for correction and I was stuck with it.....ie decals!!!!
Earlier I came to the forum to request pin washing ideas because I was having issues applying my pinkish with any success. Thanks for the help everyone, the finished panel line washing came out satisfactory in my opinion, particularly on the wings, but not so much elsewhere on the fuselage.
I now have 2 projects that lay before me on my workbench. The original plan was to build my grandfathers B-17G but that's changed. This week I purchased a new Iwata compressor/airbrush and desperately need experience with it before I move onto gramps B-17. I really want the bomber to be perfect!! So I purchased a tester kit yesterday, though I'm pretty excited about it because it's the Tamyia 1:48 Vought Corsair F-4U1, and I've always been drawn to this aircraft. The kit itself is pretty basic, not as detailed as the Thunderbolt I just completed, but it'll make for good practicing with the new airbrush, and work more on my techniques before I move onward to the B-17G.
