THE TECHNIQUE TO REVERSING FADED DECALS??
Posted by F-100 John on Monday, February 16, 2015 3:48 PM

Besides hearing that direct sunlight reverses faded decals, is there any other method in stopping or reversing faded decals??

Thank you,

F-100 John

Sorry pard... In all my years I've never heard of any tecnique to un-fade ANYTHING... Direct sunlight will reverse yellowing, I've read, but not fading...

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong...

Sorry, meant to say the reversing of the yellowed decals, not the reversing of the faded decals.

One method is to copy the decals with a scanner, and load file into a photo editing program.  Cranking up the color saturation and contrast will rescue some of them.  Then use the file to make inkjet copies with inkjet decal film.  Check out the "decal" forum near the end of the list of FSM forums.

Especially when you are buying vintage kits from another modeler or collector.  They may be yellowed already.
