Since returning to the hobby this past year after 25 years away I've been itching to building the B-17G bomber kit because of family ties that date back to the war. In brief, my grandfather was a pilot of this iconic aircraft, he was shot down over Germany in 1942/43 and was the only the survivor of his crew and spent the next 4 years recovering in German hospitals before he made his way home. Anyhow, my skills as a modeler are novice at best, but each kit(5th kit since returning) I'm showing improvements and my techniques seem to be on the upturn. Overall I found the kit challenging with a few hiccups along the way that I was able to solve with a little scratch building and touch ups. It was my first go with using Alcad II Polished Aluminum and this two tone fuselage was a great experience. I went with the Little Miss Mischief scheme because I loved the story of it, they actually pieced together two planes to make one which is why you see half the plane in polished aluminum and the other half in olive drab. Have a look at the finished product and let me know what you think.
