Still moving forward, studying, and acquiring skills

Hey everyone!

Time for my weekly update, and countdown to lift off - or build off? I don't know, haha. Anywho, it rained all weekend, so I'm kinda excusing myself for not getting my vent window installed. It's under an awning, and wouldn't get hit with rain, but the moisture could have negatively affected the glazing, so I postponed that. It didn't matter anyway because there is a TON of other stuff I still had to do

And...I also made a major change due to the results of my wet test. The cardboard box worked so good, and just felt so good to spray in, and a bunch of other positives, that I decided to use it as the working booth - I did go get another one, because I was a little rough with cutting up the test model, and they're only a couple bucks. So, I have to trim that and seal it, but that is SUPER easy, and won't take much time at all. I plan to get that done this week

I also realized that I was neglecting assembling my air setup, which was kind of a pain in the rear. I had to pretty much draw up a schematic to keep track of fittings and sizes, and in the end, I had to order some things that they don't sell at the local hardware/home improvement stores. And I had to order them from three different online airbrush outlets, because not one had all the items I needed. That was a little frustrating, but whatever, I got 'em coming in the mail

I pretty much have all the hardware for the entire booth, including lighting. Oh, I just remembered that I need to figure out what I'm going to do for a door. That was the only advantage of using the plastic storage container was the lid. I'll figure something out. I'll probably think about it while I'm at work. I get lots of good ideas when I'm at work. I plan to be up and running NLT May 1

In the meantime, I acquired a new skill today: soldering. I had only temporarily affixed the power cord to the fan, so I needed to finish that. It only took two tries. I had the right idea on the first go, but it was just too awkward. I didn't get a good, solid mechanical connection, and I got too close to the heat shrink on one of the wires and had to re-do it. But, I cleaned up all the wires, re-stripped them, and the second go went without a hitch. That's pretty much par with me. Most anything I try, I suck at the first time, but if I'm into it, I tend to progress quickly at first. I wonder if my modeling skills will come like that? Can't wait to find out!

I've also been reading and looking at the builds in the Aircraft section. EXTREMELY inspiring!!! The builds here are REALLY good, from the new guys to the seasoned vets. And the information is second to none. I've been meaning to check out some of the other sections, like the Armor one, and Autos, and Figures, etc, but I just don't have enough time to take it all in Sad Besides, I have enough built up inspiration and anticipation as it is Smile

Till next week... Cheers!
