I think you might have identified the problem. Thanks

Not if ordering from Airfix website directly.

Also, when new, the kits release in the UK/Europe first, and it may be some months before they make their way to the rest of the world.

I have never had any problems getting Airfix kits in Minnesota.  My LHS carries a good selection, and any I want that they do not have I get through online vendors such as Squadron or Roll Models.

I usually get them from Hannant's in the UK.  Shipping isn't too costly and they arrive fairly quickly.

Sometimes you can find them through Amazon, too, but they don't appear to have the very latest kits.

I want to say that Airfix is actually having their kits made in India, and as such most likely all the new releases are probably held up in the West Coast shipping slowdown. Just a guess on my part, but an educated one.

Barnes and Nobles charges too much for Airfix kits. Better off going elsewhere. Try Airfix website.

Does anyone know why the new airfix models are difficult if not impossible to obtain in the U.S. ?  My LHS has no new airfix, Tower Hobbies has none, Squadron has 7 1/72 airfix models and Sprue Bros has 22, but not the latest. The Defiant, Do17, Blenheim MkIV are nowhere to be found in the U.S. Even on eBay the new kits are rare from US sellers.

what gives?
