Tamiya Tape Holder
Posted by Danyen on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 8:43 PM

I finally got fed up with wasting all the dust collecting "end tag" off my rolls of Tamiya tape. So I designed this little holder in CAD and printed it on my son's 3D printer. Problem solved!

"Dad" has been working in the Rapid Prototyping/3D Printing industry for almost thirty years...I have had access to the coolest toys at work...but it's really rewarding seeing my son pick up the skills and work through all the issues.

The closest color I know of is here  inside3dprinting.com/colorfabb-to-beta-test-bronzefill-and-bamboofill-3d-printer-filaments

We built a few of these in gray and filled, sanded and painted them with Tamiya with a clear coat with no problems. Maybe we should do a camo on one?

Yea but his thingy has all the sizes ready to dispense. You could put the whole thing in a baggie.

If you pay for a small ad in FSM magazine, I'll bet you would sell a bunch of those!  Ingenious!

Looks like there is a strong desire to see this marketed. You have a potential gold mine there, my friend. Get a patent for them too.

I will be trying to get the information on how and where to post an ad to sell these things thru this forum or placing an FSM ad. I don't want to break any rules on this forum.

I know my son is currently building a short run of these as Hobbies Unlimited in San Leandro, CA wants to carry them. I keep you all in the loop.

We appreciate the thumbs up...and we are looking into protecting the design.

Good suggestion! The pictures posted are the first prototype we built...we are "messing" around with the end plate design by opening up the solid sections a bit; adding bosses to the bottom surface to accept silicone feet  and possibly working in a 3D logo of some sort.

Could someone tell me where these rules are? I'm new to this forum and can't find a thing...I'll be calling the publishers office tomorrow to find out about ads...My biggest concern is add cost...anyway I'll get it figured out.
