I may be mistaken, but the figure pieces don't look so bad. But again, it is an Aurora kit.

GM: thanks for the scale per the Oldmodelkits website. Another that did not turn up in my initial web search.

The Esci/ Italeri kit is 1/72. The Aurora kit according to oldmodelkits.com is 1/15.

Yes, but Bradley was a medical corpsman assigned to the 5th Marine Division so not too far off!

My wife, daughter and I were in a trivia contest in a bar far from home.

Tied with a table of locals. Last question:

"How many soldiers raised the flag at Iwo Jima".

"7"

Me: "None, they were Marines".

All hell breaks loose. The moderator asks if any one in the bar has an opinion.

"Heck yeah, Semper Fi!" says a guy.

Steak dinners for three.

 

 

Not totally correct, there were six and one was a sailor.

OTOH, your asking about this jogged my rusted memory, but what I remembered was an Italeri kit I saw in Hobby Lobby a few months ago.  This one.

Apparently, it is an old ESCI kit.  I don't know if this has anything to do with the Aurora kit.  Here's a thread of the Italeri kit painted and fixed up -

Funny, but the link leads to a picture of Barbi dolls.

I had the Iwo Jima flag raising kit back in the day, but don't remember much about its quality.  I do recollect that the flag was a sticker that was applied to a rather thick plastic flag engraved with the stars and stripes.

Can't recall if the kit was modelled after the photo or the memorial in Washington.

It wasn't one of my more successful efforts.
