Airbrushing in basement.

 i have a big basement and i airbrush with acrylics. i turn on my big stand alone filter, put on respirator and paint into a big box. if i am building afterwards i am at another part of the basement and far enough away.

 

i rattle can prmer in the garage. even in winter we will get warm enough days for that. and dulcoat. that stuff is quite nasty.

A spray booth with a good filter reduces the vapors and odors a lot even if it is not vented to outside.  Some modelers take a hose from a good booth and run it into various containers, including a simple bucket of water or a charcoal canister.  I have never tried the water bucket, but a charcoal cannister does make sense theoretically. It needs to be baked out periodically.

Yes I just put down a fresh newspaper and airbrush Tamiya acrylics with no nasty fumes and water clean up.

In my youth years, I did most of my spray painting (rattle cans) in the cellar or the attic of my home. 

I do all my painting in my basement, never needed any paint booth yet, just paint right at my work desk on some newspaper

To connect to a dryer vent? No, I wouldn't chance it. But you can do something like this:

I may build 1 since I have 5-6 kits much larger than my 18" wide portable spray booth!
