Heads Up!
Posted by StephenLawson on Friday, December 11, 2015 9:56 PM

12.10.15 Public Service Announcement !!!  Heads up all IPMS / USA members. I rec'd an email from the HQ about possible data / info being compromised.  ". . .It is possible that membership data, such as name, address, phone number and email addresses could be compromised. Accordingly, you are strongly advised to monitor your credit and personal information. . ."  This time of year thieves are willing to "Grinch" your Christmas Holidays. Be cautious and check your bank info daily. It could even show up weeks or months from now. BUT look for charges at places you could not or would not spend your money. If someone tries to open a credit line in your name - Heads Up!!!

Well, I'm not a member of any IPMS club so my data is safe. Although someone did post a survey for us to fill out for his research. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

I havent been a member since 2012 so I wonder if only current members may be affected in some way.

Stephen - It's an excellent deed you have done, circulating that info. Sadly, it seems there are no safe places for us to have our personal data in the hands of others, the thieves are among us and constantly wanting to convert our belongings to theirs.

Big thanks, Stephen.

Indeed thanks a bunch Stephen for the heads up. Like Patrick said, looks like there is no safe place. So many stores and companies have been breached that it's becoming common.

Thanks for posting the warning.

Considering recent headlines, I can't help but wonder what those ill gotten gains will fund.

I received the email on the 10th. Seems that the laptop with the membership database is missing. This means that personal information MIGHT be in the wrong hands OR it's under a bunch of other boxes that are missing too
