1st time using resin cast parts. do you prime them the same as regular plastic parts. thx.
I wash resin parts in water and dish washing soap for better adhesion of the super glue and paint. It's a good idea to prime it too then paint as usual.
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
I have used Tamiya liquid surface primer over plastic and resin and have had no issues.
Edit: I agree with PJ, best to wash the resin parts before priming.

Ye, it is best to wash and prie resin. depending on what brand you are useing, you can get fish eyes from residue left on the resin.

Tamiya primer is excellent. so is Mr. Surfacer 1000 and 1200. Your technique is good cause you are laying down the shadows with the black base. I usually do the same thing too.
I have had an awful time getting primer to stick to resin in some cases, even after washing with soap and water with a toothbrush. I wipe all resin with 91% Isopropyl alcohol now. It usually manages to remove the mold release agent. It's a nightmare if the primer starts to flake and you have to remove it.

What kind of primer are you using?
