Sure.... if you don't mind paying twice as much for the same kit than you  would at an online hobby shop like Squadron, Sprue Brothers, Megahobby, or Hobbylinc. 

I never would even think of buying a kit through Amazon. They charge too much for the kit when you can get it cheaper elsewhere.

 

Not always true.  There's a lot of times where a kit will depreciate after initial sales weren't as expected and hobby vendors won't make the adjustment, where independent vendors on amazon will.  Squadron is one of the worst, if not the worst online hobby vendor out there for prices.  How they've stayed in business baffles me. Don't get me wrong, I understand the logic behind a brick and mortar store raising prices to pay the bills, but a mail order company doing the same is just ridiculous.  I can literally find almost everything on their website elsewhere for cheaper.  People saying "spend the extra money to support them" are foolish.  Why would I support a place that's knowingly gouging their customers.  Amazon has turned into a market place the part few years where independent vendors have ea platform to sell through their website, so not everything on there's is just from Amazon,but vendors selling through there.  A lot of the times its the only place I can find kits for commission work that have since disappeared from the regular retailers who try to keep up with what's currently being produced.

The Hobby Lobby closest to me (Kingsport TN) has a limited selection of Model Master enamels. The HobbyTown USA in Johnson City, on the other hand, has 3 racks of the stuff; hundreds of colors.

i have anLHA small store 15 minutes from the house and the larger store is across town next to model club saturday morning breakfast and buy things. though affiliated with Hobbytown they aare their own store and offer 15% discount to IPMS members. I will spend a little more even with the discount to buy from them as do a lot of my friends. That's not to say we don't take advantage of 40% off free shipping sales and there are some sites (HobbyTerra and some Japanese sites that offer stuff not found in the states). it's worth the extra dollars on a model to be able to hit the LHS on a Sunday afternoon because i need a bottle of paint.

Your local Michael's craft shop will carry MM/testors enamels. The range will depend on the store. They are my fav paint for sure

It really blows that Model Master's Enamel line is slowly shrinking.  They're my favourite paints.  I'm not a fan of acrylics so I'm going to have to change but options may be limited.  We'll see how things progress in these parts.

Oh no, that stinks.  My LHS here in Dallas has plenty to offer at the moment.  However, he said they may stop carrying them, but for now they're in abundant supply.

I just made a LHS run last week (1/2hr drive)...needed 2-3 bottles of paint. To help offset the cost per bottle of paint (factoring in gas, time, etc)...I bought 4 kits as well.

I think you're looking at the wave of the future as far as paints go. I'm lucky enough to have a 50 year established hobby shop, Michaels,and two hobby lobby's within 12 miles of me. An aside to Hunter, I just started the Hasegawa A6M5c.

My local Hobby Lobby stocks a full line of MM paints, half of the selection is enamel. It would not bother me to go and get you the colors you want and mail them to you.

Gary, I'm in Cameron, about 75 miles NE of Kings in Austin.  I often just call and order supplies to be mailed to me.  Shipping vs. gas costs...pretty close.
