Why not do it for your son ? Anything comes after would be all gravy.

Well I dunno Tanks. Why not write about your service on the Maine?

The thing is to only sell stuff that other folks want to buy, rather than what you want to sell. It can lead to confusion.

I learned at the California State Railroad Museum (great place BTW) that it was possible through the RPO to mail a letter in a morning, and receive a reply that same day.

There's one of the monster Cab Forward locomotives there, designed to operate in snowsheds without suffocating the crew.

Back when I first went in the 90's they had a retired seat box jockey who was a docent and told great stories.

 Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

I did take pictures of some of my models a few years ago and had a free offer from Shutterfly,so I put them in one of those photo books.It looks pretty cool,like my own personal volume.

Old Threads or New Book ?
Posted by Tanker - Builder on Monday, March 14, 2016 8:28 AM

Hi ;

     My Son is after me to write a book on my personal model building history . Why ? I say to many , if I finish and get it published .

     The readers will say , Oh Heck , I heard about that stuff years ago ? Why would they be interested in a old geezer's reminiscences of old modeling times and products ?

 Would that be equivelant to answering eight or ten year old posts on this forum for instance ? Old knowledge is good knowledge . When is the world going to face facts . Without old knowledge the new wouldn't even be here .

     It's like at the Museum someone asks " What was it like to eat in a moving Dining car back in the day ? " Well , turns out that after the explanation they are astounded by the facts . Many folks don't know the truth .

      They think that well appointed dining on rails was a figment of Hollywood ! Nope ! It was real ! Cars with wood on them that weren't station wagons , Yep ! they were real too .Warships with real teak decks  ? Yep ! right again . See , I could go on forever .

 So if someone reads an old thread ( except a newbie that signed on the first time back then ) That's redundant ! But adding new facts to an old problem or question never hurt anyone . So that said , will you then buy and read my book ? I think I am going to see if I can get $50.00 bucks a copy . That way I can buy more models , LOL.LOL.LOL.    Tanker - Builder
