Rifles and other weapons

I'm starting to build a scope for a .50 cal and was wondering...what would be the best paint, Alclad, or whatever for the weapon.  For that matter what would you use for a M-16 from the 70s?

For a 1970s era M-16, I would use mostly blacks, satin for the stock, pistol grip, and handguards, and faded black or very dark gray for the receiver. A dark steel to gun metal for the dust cover, magazines, barrel, and front sight. Any scopes should be flat black.
