I have the same camera and I am happy with it. Took me a little while to find out how to use its features it as it was a big upgrade for me. I love the strong zoom although a tripod may be needed sometimes. Also good for close ups for your models.

Cheers...post some pix Smile

Not too familiar with that camera.

Features that are good for closeup/model photography are either SLR type, or one with a very high res viewfinder, and ability to make manual selection of aperture, to increase depth of field.  If the lens is not macro, or it does not have removable lens, then if it has threads in front of lens for attachments, you can buy supplemental lenses to focus closer.

A tripod is a very worthwhile accessory for model photography.  Exposures will be long when using small apertures, and focus distance is critical during exposure.

Note that there is a model photography forum further down in the list of forums, in the Tools, Techniques, and Reference Materials section.

Mike, if no one can relate through ownership of the same, we might, as viewers, be able to critique through some of your sample pics. Yes

I just bought a digital camera. I'm kinda old school and know nothing about them. It seemed like a reasonable price and sorta an entry level thing. It's a nikon coolpix l340. All thoughts and opinions are welcome. Mike.
