Charlie emailed me last night.... said he visited the place on Rt. 29 heading towards Schuylerville...only a few minutes from me....but again-- sadly- the emphasis is on trains there. Hobbytown on Wolf Road in Albany is a great place-- but anyone who knows the traffic on Wolf Road knows how big a pain it is to go there...
He also said the shop in Plattsburgh is still open and that was the one he was speaking of when he said it's 100 miles....
stinger-- I am not sure if he was an artist...I had only visited the shop once or twice when I was visiting my parents-- he was as I remember a red-haired gentleman- very nice...and the thing I loved about the shop (at that time on Margaret Street) was the upstairs library he had for modelers...I wished the shop was there when I was still living there.... I believe it is now located near the Moc Shop on Cornelia-- but I bet Charlie would probably know better...as I have not visited the shop in quite a while.
Hey-- just had a thought! Last summer, my wife and I headed up past Rutland, Vermont to check out the Morgan Horse farm-- and in Rutland I saw what looked to be a rather large hobby shop. We didn't stop- as this was a wife excursion day and the model shop didn't fit into that agenda LOL...but I have always wanted to go back and check it out...how far are you from Rutland, Charlie??
