Very proud dad

Way to go! He did a great job on that being his first model! Like many of us, my first few models were glue- and paint-smeared messes. I don't even remember what they were.

That car looks great!  Really nice job. This "All American " modeler needs his own table , and then you can model together.

He's 9 and that's his first model??? Sheesh, his first model looks light years better than anything I'm building now at 50...great job by him. If that's his first, I'd love to see the models he will build in the future, he is off to a great start.

Ya know, that's a mighty nice job, at any age or experience it looks just great. And he's a good lookin' lad, rightfully proud of his work. I'd say you're a very good Dad.

Here is the completed product. I will say I helped him with setting up the airbrush but he did most of the actual spraying, also helped him out with the decals and any technical advice he needed. He did all the cement work and hand painting himself. I gotta admit it looks light years better than my first (it was a poly cement mess if I recall). He's looking forward to the next one already, thanks for all the kind words from everyone...maybe now I can squeeze in some time to work on my BF109 now

These days if you can get a 9-year-old interested in anything you've scored a victory. Let's hope he stays with it.

I used to tell the students in my museum studies courses that the typical American high school student is interested in precisely six subjects: rock music, automobiles, beer, drugs, sex, and sex. If you and your kid can survive the nine years, you'll be doing just fine. And model building can be a big help.

I think I see a Trumpeter BF-109 and a couple of Tamiya military kits in the background. Are those his too?

 

Actually a Revell 1/32 109, and yes a Tamiya 7.5cm piece with sandbag kit...those are mine (we share the work table, he wins most of the time)
