What Adhesive is similar to that of 3M mounting pad?
Posted by Chrisk-k on Saturday, July 30, 2016 2:48 PM

I am looking for an adhesive/glue that is similar to (1) whatever 3M uses for their permanent mounting pads or (2) the adhesive used for mailing labels. I need to semi-permanently attach silicon pieces to a plastic surface. The attached pieces shouldn't move easily and I should be able to remove them later without damaging the plastic surface.

I've tried Aleene's tacky glues with no success. Any ideas?

Hi!

I don´t know how it´s in your area, but here in Finland 3M sells that "glue" (atleast that permanent one) in their shops. It´s not in cans or tubes, but it´s thin glue layer between two covering papers. Like that mounting pad, but without pad. Just glue. When I bought that it was about one meter wide roll and they cut as much I needed. Very sticky stuffBig Smile

Check 3m web site and look what is your nearest reseller and ask do they have different kinds of that.

Hope this helps.

What you want is generically called contact cement.  In addition to sheets, 3M has a popular type sold in spray cans.  Also, some stuff is sold in bottles or cans, and can be brushed on.
