Ordering Replacement Parts from Trumpeter
Posted by mhrector on Monday, August 1, 2016 4:25 PM

I have a 1/700 USS Lexington kit I recently started.  The problem is I have found I am missing a part.  Normally this is not that big of a deal, but the piece happens to be the "rear deck".

Does anyone know how to go about getting replacement parts from Trumpeter?  I would also be happy to hear about getting them from other manufacturers as well.

Your best chance is to go through where you bought the kit from, or try the US importer for Trumpeter either Stevens or MMD

I was missing the clear parts for an aircraft model and tried contacting them.  They never did respond.

I've heard since then that their customer service is non existant as far as the individual goes.

Evidently they are a bit like the Ferengi of the modeling world and go by the saying, "Let the buyer beware."

I have since refused to buy their kits.

but that's just me.

Ferengi Rules Of Acquisition relevant to modelling:

#1    "Once you have their money, you never give it back."
#239    "Never be afraid to mislabel a product."

I would go back to who ever you bought it from and go from there or deal with the supplier as previously suggested.

I forgot who the supplier was when I needed a part from Trumpeter but they were no help so hopefully you will have better luck.

I appreciate that, the problem is it was an IPMS Club charity drive where guys were getting rid of old kits.

If it's an older kit the parts may not be available so maybe you may need to scratch build the part yourself.
