Laser printer setting.
Posted by docipaul on Friday, August 12, 2016 6:15 PM

Hi, I'm trying to print my decals with a laser printer but the toner won't stick to the decal paper. What paper setting should I use (plain paper, light, heavy, transparencies, etc..)?

There are decal papers for either ink jet or laser. Do you have the right one?

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Sounds like to me you're trying to make decals using inkjet decal paper on a laser printer. Nope, it won't work. You need to get decal paper specifically for laser printer use.

I agree.  There are two kinds of decal paper (actually four, if you count clear and white for each type of printer).  Laser paper will not work in inkjet printers, and inkjet paper will not work in laser printer.

Also, there is a rumor that you do not need to seal decals made with a laser printer on laser paper.  Not true, you must seal them with a clear overcoat just like you do with inkjet decals.  Otherwise the decals will be very susceptible to the least touch or abrasion.

I get mine from Micro Mark.  Good service and the stuff works well.
