The ultimate aircraft kit

Hmm..... I have to say its DML's 1/144th scale Super Hornets, excellent little kits, things fit right, little to no issues with anything while building it.

A number of years ago, a bunch of us built the new Tamiya 1/32 Spitfire. As in one kit, 16 guys and it was literally sent around the world. I built the engine.

That was a really swell kit. Lots of sweet features like little magnets to hold the access panels on, etc.

That kit was a "game changer" for me. I had no idea a kit could be so good. All I knew was the old Revellogram stuff. I remember calling some shops, listed in the back of FSM, just looking for a TBF to build for my grampa (radio op on TBFs, etc). The guy sold me on the A/M kit. I have since built two more and have two more in the stash!

 Another one is Hasegawas F-104...not really into that plane, but I couldn't pass up the deal I got on the first one. The kit kinda got me into the plane...bought and built two more! AZ Models 1/72 BF-109G's are another...so many great marking options...I've done 8-9? so far and still have a couple few in the stash!

Just about any Tamiya kit. They fall together right out of the box.

While I have not built one, I've seen a couple of Peter Jackson's Wingnut Wings WW1 airplanes. Yes, this is the Peter Jackson from the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies who is an avid WW1 aircraft modeler. He started his own model company and makes some very high end models.

They are awesome, but not my cup of tea since I am an armor modeler. I do think they are some of the ultimate aircraft models available, but who am I to judge?

Revell's 1/32 Hawker Hunter. I had not done a large scale jet in nearly 20 years, and at the time, that aircraft type had no interest to me. I bought it just because I had read it was a nice kit to build, and I wanted a big project to pass the time with. Oh yes it is a nice build... a VERY NICE BUILD! The engineering and fit are superb. The detail level inside and out are top notch. And once you start researching the aircraft itself, you find there are numerous paint schemes from worlwide service in war and peace in the colors of multiple nation's air arms.

Having done kits in the past, one of the first since returning to this great hobby after 20 plus years away, I want to say Revell 1/72 scale P-47 Thunderbolt. Having never done a P-47 in my youth years, I found this aircraft a fun kit to build. I ended up buying 2 more - Tamiya 1/48 scale Razorback and Bubbletop versions. They're still fun to build.
