Hobby shops in Philadelphia area
Posted by 7474 on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 9:28 PM

I live about an hour north of Philadelphia, Hobby Lobby/Michaels are the only results that show up when I do an Internet search. Before I drive to pick up a friend from Philadelphia airport on Thursday, I want to go to a nice shop In the area. Does anyone have any recommendations? Need to get some good supplies.

I'm thinking about developing a phone app with Hobby shop locations, that users can update or add in, with ratings and reviews. What a PITA it is trying to find a shop. Would anyone else like such a thing?

There's Triple-A Hobbies, but that's in Jersey, so it's probably out of your way.  AAA is the warehouse and retail outlet for MRC.

Mainline Hobbies is located in the Plymouth Meeting Mall, which is just off the turnpike, where the Northeast Extension meets the East-West turnpike.  Here is their website:  http://mainlinehobbies.com/

That's about all I can think of.  Penn Valley Hobbies in Lansdale is still in business, but they finally stopped keeping hours at the store, and they confine themselves to their online and eBay sales.  And we lost Herb's Hobbies in Doylestown.

I'm in Bethlehem.  Whereabouts in PA are you?  We have an old-school LHS going strong, Trains & Lanes, outside of Easton and Nazareth.  Otherwise, there's HobbyTown in Whitehall, as well as a couple of Michael's locations, AC Moore, and two HobbyLobbies (one in Nazareth, and one in Trexlertown)

Best regards,

Brad

Thanks for the reply, I'm in the Princeton/Trenton area. I'll check out your suggestion. The hobby shop near me is pretty useless

Sure thing!

OK, you're in Jersey, yes, AAA can very easily be on your way, then, or at least, it's a minor detour.  I should have included their website before; here it is:

Thanks a ton, my FAA medical is in the morning And the next stop is AAA, what a glorious looking shop and I'm sure I'm going to spend a lot more than I need to lol, then I'll grab my friend from the airport.
