It depends on how you intend to print them. They make decal paper for inkjet printers and laserjet printers. They come in clear and white, since you cant print the "color" white. Testors makes some and you can find it at other places as well. Most of the online hobby supply shops carry it.

Yes you can print white.  You either need a wax transfer printer or silk screen the decals.

Hello!

I always tell people to check out some custom decal printing company - that way you can concentrate on the important thing - creating the patterns that you need, and the company will have all the other stuff - printer, paper, colours and so on - all figured out for you. You don't have to buy materials and keep them in stock - you just buy the decals you designed. I hope it helps - good luck with your builds and have a nice day

I urge you to try the decals forum, below in the tools, techniques and reference material section.  Many threads there on making homemade decals.  Look through the older threads, and if you do not find what you need, then ask the questions there.

In quick summary, there are four types of decal paper available today- white and clear decal paper for laser printers, and white and clear for inkjet printer.  Laser and inkjet printers each need their own type paper.  Do not use the paper for one type on the other printer type.

Dark decals over light backgrounds are easy- use the clear paper.  Light colored decals for use over dark backgrounds are difficult.  You use white paper.  However, since the whole decal sheet is white, you must either cut the decal out precisely, so no white shows as a border, or else print with a background color matching exactly your paint color.  Color calibration on personal computers and printers is not a trivial task.

Don, he's fine posting this question in this foryum thread. After all, it is general modeling discussion thread.

I've given up pointing new folks in re-directing inquiries to proper threads just because they'll get better responses there. Not worth it anymore. Let it be.

I still believe in suggesting trying another forum if I feel it will provide good answers to the original question.  Nothing wrong with using more than one of FSM's forums.

Micro Mark is indeed a good source of paper.  I have used several vendors, but now just go to MM 'cause I know they will have what I need, and MM is easy to deal with.
