Posting on here and another forum...
Posted by SpursN17 on Friday, November 4, 2016 10:22 AM

...is it OK to post the same subject matter on here and another forum, or is it frowned upon?

I only look at two modelling forums, and don't see any of the same usernames as the other forum is based in another country.

There's some here that are on 4-5 maybe more, forums, posting the same WIPs. No reason not to, even if there are some of the same people there, there's a lot that are not here.

Another forum I post on has quite a few that are also here...but, there's quite a few who are not. Nothing wrong with branching out to a larger audience and more resources.

Why not?  It's a free country (still).

There are probably some folks who post exclusively on one forum or another, and there are folks that post the same thing across several.  It really comes down to how much work you want to do.

I post across a couple of forums, and I'll write up the text, with photo links as appropriate, in Notepad, then paste it into new posts in those forums.  But even that starts to feel like work after a while.  In fact, even stopping to take pics has gotten to be a bit of a pain, especially while I'm in progress on a build.  I don't really do SBS'es anymore, because stopping at each step was adding to the amount of time it took to finish, which for me, is already practically geologic.

I'm pretty active in four other forums,I do post my builds in different places,I also like to share threads and blogs between the different forums if it's funny or informative. It's cool running into the guys who are also active in the other places.

While I enjoy them all, they all have different strengths and weaknesses which is great for variety and what you need.

I also post in another forum. I usually post here first, more than likely in a GB. Then copy and paste that into a WiP thread and then again on the otehr forum.

I would like to branch out to more forums, but i soon lose interest in others. I have not found a forum i can get into like this one.

When you say another country, is that in the UK or some where else.

If its Brit Modeller, there are a few members from here on there. I did join a while back but have not been on for some time.

I'm a member on Britmodeller as well---like here, a fine and quite friendly bunch of folks---and I recognize quite a number who are members here as well. Why not---hey, the more, the merrier!

I usually 'alternate' posts here and there, but occasionally if there's a piece I'm really 'chuffed' over [note cultural horizons broadened with the learning of 'foreign' vernacular], I'll show it on both. Nobody seems to mind.

I regulary participate in 10 of the FSM forums.  When I post, I ordinarily post to what I think is the most relevent forum.  However, for questions that require an answer, and you think there are a couple of forums that might be relevent, I see nothing wrong in multiple posts.

I have seen trolls who post the same rant in a dozen or so forums.  Don't to that.  But sure, for a legitimate question, go ahead and post to a couple of forums.

I might also suggest taking a look at the forums in the Tools, Techniques and References section.  This gem of a group is easily overlooked, because it is down below the Modeling Subjects section.  But it has invaluable threads on tools, paints and painting, and decaling.  Not a lot of traffic on it, but it would be even better if there were more traffic there.

Don, thats not quite what he means. He is talking about posting on other f0orums as in other websites, not in other sections within FSM forum.
