Navy version of the B-29 or AKA P2B-1(S)

I have just started the venerable Revell B-29 in 1/48 scale.  I have yet to really decide on how I want to finish this bird, but my options are the bare metal as suggested by the kit, the olive drab over gray, or as I have recently discovered, the Navy's version of the B-29, otherwise known as P2B-1S, in a dark sea blue.  Option 1 I want to avoid as I am not very good at getting a good finish replicating bare metal, option 2 is on the back burner as the decals I wanted are out of stock with no indication as to when they will be available, and the option I am really leaning toward is the Navy version, but I can find little information on these craft, other than the Bu # of 84028 to 84031, and that they were used for long range reconnaissance plane, and then a couple were convered to be a mothership for testing Navy rocket planes.  How where they modified after joining the Navy?  Extra fuel tanks, internally or externally?  Bomb sight kept or removed?  Any information would be helpful or even point me in a direction would be great!  Thanks

I would ask these questions in the Aircraft forum.
