Adding to the stash
Posted by Aggieman on Saturday, December 31, 2016 10:18 PM

I have a decent sized stash, a few more than 200 kits. Most are aircraft, and most of those are WWII-era. But as most of us with an existing stash know, we can always find room for more kits.

My 2016 was defined by being out of work, yet I actually found room in the budget for some new kits, nothing real expensive though. As the year ends, I have a good feeling on a new position that I interviewed for early this week. So with that in mind, I will likely look to return to adding to the stash soon.

I am wanting to get the following kits:

Tamiya F-14 1/48, Wing Nut Wings Sopwith Camel 1/32, Bronco P-40C Warhawk to go along with the two Airfix P-40B Warhawks I bought a month or so ago, and then scour eBay for a few old kits - Tamiya's original release of the Dewoitine D.520, AMT/ERTL's A-20 Havoc, and a smaller scale B-58, probably the old Monogram kit. I would also love to get the Trumpeter A-3D Skywarrior and their 1/32 Avenger.

Ah, just some musings as this year rolls to its end. I have many other things to do before I can start buying models again on a regular basis....

200 is decent sized!? I thought I was getting out of hand with the two kits in my stash! You know, if you ever decide to get rid of some of that... Big Smile

I am around the 200 mark as well. I have really cut back in the kits i buy and this year i only plan on two, but they are both big and pricey. The Zvezda Star Destroyer and the Trumpeter 350 Graf Zeppelin.

Of course, you know what they say about the best plans.

This year, I would like to have a stash of 25 to 30 kits just to start out with.  Things like the Superfortress, Peacemaker, Stratafortress, and the Gunship.  All Revell products.  Then there are other fairs from Trumpeter, Tamiya, HKM, Eduard, Zoukei Mura, and academy amoung many other model companies I come across.  Currently I have 4 in my stash.

Academy TBF Avenger 1/72

Academy P-51 Mustang 1/72

Academy P-38 lightning 1/48 w/Eduard/Brassin PE/Resin set

Trumpeter P-38 Lightning 1/32

Currently on the radar

Zoukei Mura Phantom

Trumpeter Rooikat and Graf Zeppelin

Tamiya M 40

But that will probably change with the next announcement.

Toshi...up early!

Got about 60 or so in the stash.  Looking to add the Italeri B-52 soon.

Just added the 1/350 Polar Lights USS Enterprise from the original series, purchased by my father.  Watched the series in the seventies with him every Saturday night.

On the bench: SR-71 Blackbird, Trumpeter USS New Jersey, Revell PT 109, various AMT Star Trek /Sci Fi and Academy F-15.  Yeah, nothing gets done lol...

I was up around 200 a couple years ago...stopped counting.

I recently had to reorganize and separate everything by scale...my stash cabinet was overflowing. With the reorganization, all that extra space filled up and I'm pushing 300 now. I haven't seen anything that I NEED to get and have little desire to go looking! That said, I did just order a Revell 747...I didn't know it existed...as soon as I saw it, I had to order it!!!

You know you're BIG TIME when your tour bus is a 747!!!

The only other kit I want is a pair of 757s, to do Iron Maidens first tour plane. I do know that decal sheets WERE produced....no longer avaliable, as far as I have found.

Got a duece and a half coming from a vendor.  Only thing I want to try for this coming year is maybe Italai's 1/72 B52G (worked on the "G's" back when), the B17E/F that is out, and Roden's 1/32 O2.  Just got the old Testors 1/48 O2 a couple of weeks ago.

Just got in my first order of the year (from Tower Hobbies)

Pretty big...almost 20".

No clear parts for all the windows...butt...there are decals for the window trim, that will cover the windows with clear film... [hmm] ...may do the trick???

Hey Fermis ;

Dats  nice looking Boid . I Wonder if that's the same Bird that graced their Shuttle Transfer set . I got the set and there were no engines for the plane or front windshield . I guess that's my fault . I didn't check the package at the Flea market !  T.B.

Oho , Aggieman !

I stopped counting at 345 . I know I have at least 120 ships . The rest are either yard sale or flea market finds . Planes , cars , etc. Even some Armor too . Cutting it down in steps by donating to my Local V.A. Recreational Therapy Craft shop at Audie Murphy . T.B.
