HI new here hopefully I can get some tips from experienced painters.
So I know it's very hard to get a true mirror chrome finish. Can people share some tips?
The real problem here is the delicacy of various chrome paints. I have used alclad 2 chrome and spatix, can achieve a relative mirror finish. BUt the problem is sealing it or cover it with various clear colors.
Any thing over chrome, simple dry rubs, water, 90% alchol, enamel thinner, acrylic/laquer thinners, acrylic clear paint, will dull the shininess. I think they all REACT with the chrome layer even after 1 wk of drying.
I have figured the best one so far is to coat with aclad clear, with mist spray, then color with clear color. But even then, the mirror effect dulls signficantly.
There are some suggestions of imitating chrome mirror: do the normal steps, then coat with multiple clear coats and sand and polish the clear coats. I have not tried. But I feel that multiple layers of clear coat will dull the finish by physical effect even if there are no reactions
Do you all have any other suggestions?
