Modelist paints
Posted by Lalalada on Friday, May 05, 2017 11:40 AM

I got a kit called Modelist(Моделист in Russian) that is made in Russia. Does any one know where I can find these paints in Moscow? Their own paints do exist just they aren't as common as others so I want to know if anyone knows of a store in Moscow who sells them.

I highly doubt you'll find anyone here from Moscow. I certainly never heard of Modelist paints brand. However I'd look into Akan paints from Linden Hill Imports. They offer THE most accurate Russian colors you can't find anywhere else.

This guy is the real deal when it comes to Russian colors. Good luck.

It it quite common for model kit manufacturers to only cite paints of their own manufacture in the instructions or their kits (eg. Tamiya,  Revell of Germany,  Airfix/Humrol).

While you may not find a conversion chart online which converts Modelist paints to other brands you should be able to use such a chart to come up with a suitable choice.

IPMS Stockholm has such a chart.   There are others on other modeling sites.   From your kit instructions you should know that Modelist paint color "A" is Dark Earth (for example).   Go to the charts with the Dark Earth name and look for a corresponding paint in a paint manufacturer which you have access to.

There is also an app called "Hobby Color Converter". It doesn't have Modelist either, but does do about ten brands and does scale conversions too. Available in your app store I imagine.

I type on a tablet. Please excuse the terseness and the autocorrect. Not to mention the erors.
