substitutes for Humbrol enamel thinner

Just curious about possible Humbrol enamel thinners: is Turpenoid OK? How about Testor's Universal Enamel Thinner? Or Mona Lisa thinner?

I used the Testors thinner with Humbrol. It worked ok. It did seem to take an extra day to dry.

For airbrushing enamels, I only use the Testors Universal Enamel Thinner. It works great with Humbrol, no excessive drying time in all the years I've used it. In fact Humbrol Enamels with that thinner is my primary choice. Mona Lisa thinner will just give you a globby gooey mess with enamel paints. Avoid it for that purpose. It works great with oils for washes over a cured enamel base, but not as a thinner for enamels.

Once again stickpusher is absolutely right! Testors enamel thinner is great and Mona Lisa only for oils.

Here's hoping .

I do hope the other members won't take away my Floaty Thingies . I have , for years used Ronson's Lighter Fuel for thinner , period ! .Yeah I know it's Naptha . but it seems to work fine .  T.B.       P.S. In a house full of allergies this is the only thing I get away with !

TB

I actually have a can of Ronson fluid to try out since I've heard of several modelers using it as thinner.

I also use Testors Enamel in the red can for thinning. It works really well with my enamels.
