new models
Posted by armorbaran@gmail.com on Saturday, June 3, 2017 12:10 PM

until a little while ago I strictly liked building tanks and AFV's. Now I'm hooked on construction equipment. A couple of days ago i purchased the Hasagawa Hitachi Z-axis Excavator . What a beauty! The only thing that I dis-liked is the decales on the clear parts.

Hasagawa hit it out of the park with this kit! They did a wonderful job creating this kit. I hope to see more heavy construction from them in this scale. Oh I will stil build tanks until more vehicles come out. Heads up mates the fun is just beginning!

what scale was it in?  And yes, it would be nice to see some road equipment as kits.

Roony, I belive the kit was 1/35 scale.  Fujimi and Aoshima also make some small commercial equipment like forklifts and such.  They even have a kit of those crazy motorized platforms with "giant beer can steering" like they use in Tsukiji fish market in Tokyo.  For some reason, most of these kits are 1/32 or 1/35.

IMO, I think it's best not closing your choices to only one genre. I jump from planes to armor, figures, ships and even vehicles. I do wish fire trucks from the 1930s thru the early 1960s were available. I think diversity in modeling keeps you on your toes.

I've been hoping for heavy construction kits for years. The Meng dozer kit is a home run with the exception of the almost impossible to build tracks and I'd love to see more like it. Thanks for the heads up on the Hasegawa kit.

Now, if someone would just kit one or a few of some really old farm tractors- no military connection.  I am thinking of the old steam traction engines or the early IC engined stuff like the Rumely Oil-Pull.  What was so fascinating about those machines was that all the important working parts were hung on the outside, like the ever popular steam locomotives.  So fascinating for a machinery geek!
