Newbie Painting Advice - Zinc Model

Grey spray primer from the hardware store will do the job. That type of metal, often called Britannia metal, is really common in better ship models. Back in the bad old days it was lead.

Welcome aboard, I would imagine that one would need to make sure the zinc is clean and dry before appling anything. A good metal primer would be well advised then once that has cured you could probably paint with most anything. As a side note try to repost your question in the paint and finish section of the forums, there is ALOT of helpful folks to give advice, ya just gotta find them. Good luck and happy modeling.
