Some people can keep politics out of their posts, others can't. Also, there is the effect of interacting via the Internet. I call it, "putting on your e-muscles". That is, some folks will say things online, that they wouldn't say in a face-to-face discussion. Then there are some folks who have no filter, and would say things even in a face-to-face discussion.
I try to avoid political debates here, too, though I do admit, there have been times where I was sorely tempted. But I recognize that this is a privately-run forum about scale modeling, not politics, and that the forum has rules, to which I agreed when I joined.
I talk politics on my Facebook page, that's sufficient.
But I won't castigate someone who thinks he's right and says so. If he can make a good argument for his opinion, and do so without calling people who oppose him names, then good for him. I don't have to agree with him. I value clarity over agreement.
