Opinions on Use.com photo hosting and Flickr
Posted by Griffin25 on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 11:43 AM

Hey guys.... and gals. Who else uses Use.com to post on here and what do you think about it. I find it very convenient due to its ease of use and I can use my phone to post without a problem. It's free also. I've been fiddling around with Flickr but I can't get it to work on my phone. I was trying Flickr because I like the fact you can zoom in on peoples photo posts which helps when looking at pics on my phone. Use.com doesn't let you zoom. Here's an example of a pic on Use.com. Do you think its too small to be viewed on a phone screen? How can I get Flickr to work on my phone? I have the app and an account. I appreciate it.

I use Flickr but upload from my computer. On a thread I created a couple days ago there are couple people not able to see photos of my Bismarck progress. There are also few threads under aircraft section where I cannot see the person's photos. I wonder if maybe flickr has some issues.... maybe photos uploaded through flickr do not work with everyone?

For the few flickr photos I'd posted I have gone to the photo, selected share photo, then copy the BBcode which is used to post your pictures in forums. Griffin, I think you said you were able to see my Bismarck photos directly, and zoom in. I wonder why it works for some but not for others...

Also your picture looks great no need to zoom in... and if I need to zoom in on the right of image it says "enlarge image" so I can see it larger with more detail.

Thanks for your input Kien. I think it might be a computer vs. Mobile device thing. I will probably just continue to post with USE.com. It's odd that they don't have an app but it works great from my phone just using their browser page. It's good to know the pics look ok. Thanks bud.

I’m running a GB where one of the participants is using Flickr. When they completed their build and I went to put a copy of their completed build photo on the completed builds post, big no go. Appareantly it’s not allowed for someone to do that. At least not via an iPhone or ipad on the forum format. That’s one strike against that hosting site in my book.

Thanks for the info Stik. I'll stay with USE.  You've inspired me to start my Ethiopian T-55 after seeing yours. Wink

Too bad you’re not still in So Cal... you could join our AMPS GB of T-55’s with that build..., or wait, you are in the Long Beach area, right?

I'm a USEer. I like the app for my phone and I find it easy to use.

With some forums (not this one) you can replace the [img] code with [IMAGE] and it resizes to a larger picture.

I usually remove the second line of code that leaves the "click to enlarge" text under the picture because clicking on the picture takes you to the same place anyways. Also the [/center] tag is unnecessary on most forums as well. You can edit that out if you wish. Most forums auto align left and it keeps things tidier.

I posted a thorough tutorial on how to use "USE.com" a while back. Most seem to like Flikr or Postimage And that's fine. I'm always open to alternatives for the future lol.
