Question about Sprue Brothers
Posted by hogfanfs on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 12:39 PM

I have purchased several kits from Sprue Brothers Deal of the Day sales, many of which are Takom. When I receive the kits they are never sealed. They only have the clear adheasive circles on two sideS to close the box.I assumed this is how Takom kits were sold. Until I just purchased a Takom kit from Squadron, which is completely sealed. Just curious if anyone else has noticed this as well? And this is not a knock on Sprue Brothers.

Can't say for sure, but Squadron may shrink wrap them before shipping.  I know that Squadron will often place one of their labels on the outside of the box.  But that said, I've got Eduard and Airfix products from both sites that have not been shrink wrapped.

Takom kits are usually taped, not shrink wrapped - particularly older kits. Not sure on newer kits...

My FV 432 was not wrapped, just the small circles of tape. Must be done by Squadron.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

MMD-Squadron is the one shrink wrapping the kits.  Many kits come into the importers (MMD) broken down and MMD "assembles" the boxes and kits.

Thank you for the responses, gentlemen. I was wondering if it was Squadron  who was performing the sealing of these kits.

Anyone can do a re-shink wrap job on a box. Many years ago, I worked for a local retailer who did this all the time on returned items.  I felt it was dishonest to do this.   You never  know what you are going to get.

I have bought two Takom kits from different sources and both were not sealed .

Thank you for the response PJ. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one receiving kits like this.
