A Day of Infamy - Pearl Harbor Day

Hi;

   Although I have read  this threadand already replied . I have to make this final comment . Now , some of you will be shocked some will say " I told you so " and some will will sigh in resignation .

 I too  ,taught students a course in the college level . It was simply how to speak , spell and create a dynamic speaking format . Can you imagine Lawyers and Doctors that didn't know how to do either ?

 Anyway when asking some school students at a " A Neighbor Speaks " event at a local school I was asked by a teacher of history Why the Vietnam conflict lasted so long . When I asked her what she meant, her reply could've knocked me to the floor if I hadn't been leaning on the desk .

    She calmly answered " Well it started in 1953 didn't it ? " Needless to say I gave her the name of a book in the school's own library and told her to read it .

 Now as if that wasn't bad enough . I was asked to close out the day in a assembly in a Q & A session for the students . One of the students , a Senior , asked me what it was like on the front in Gettysberg ! I replied and she then said  "That must've been horrible for you ! "

 Sha actually thought , Because I am from Little Rock , that I fought in the War Between the States ! Now I look my age , But , C'mon now ! There you have it . T.B.

 P.S. When I asked them what happened on Dec , 7 , 1941 Only two students gave the right answer !!!!

TB... you’re old. LOL!

However, I usually instill a bit of WW2 trivia to my son on 2 - 4 questions. Keep in mind, I started this going back when he was 9 or 10 yrs old. He’s now 14.

The 3 questions I ask him:

What date and year did Germany invade Poland?

What happened on December 7, 1941?

When was D-Day? (or even on the actual day, I asked him what’s today is.)

There will be more history questions to instill in him in the near future. :)
