Custom decal work (white)

I know one such company, but they are in Poland. jgeratic has dealt with them recently and had some problems - maybe he could write about how it all turned out?

Othewrwise I'd suggest you look for a company that is not so far away from you. I believe DRAWdecals could print a custom sheet if you  got them a pattern - you'd have to scan and redraw your sheet in that case (I think you will have to do it in any case).

Ask yourself this question... do you ever see white ink cartidges? 

Your best bet is have them custom made.

There is the option of using white rub down letters.

Of course you are limited to sizes and fonts available but I’ve used these quite a bit for naming ships.

Certainly a big stencil on a 1/72 jet isn’t going to work.

That is another option. I often wonder if they have a reaction to clear coat to seal it in.

I have used "Dry transfer's " quite a bit and never had a problem sealing them with Gloss or Dull coat. 

EXCEPTION : Gold colored dry transfers will "run" if you Gloss /Dull  coat them with a Laquer based clear coat. Not a problem , IF you are going for a oxidised/ heavily weathered look. ( Like something has been in the weather for 50 years or so. )

The adhesive on dry transfer stuff is generally a wax- very benign to finishes.  I have dullcoated both the white and the black, but have never clearcoated the gold, so mind the above warning on those.

The only problem with wax is that painting over wax is a problem, but the wax is only behind the letter or object itself, so you would never be painting over it, unless you decided to remove the transfers and repaint.

Kajetan (the Polish decal maker) informed me my decals would be sent Dec. 2nd, so am still waiting.   He had also promised to email a photo of the finished work, but that never happened. 

I had sent him a vector file of my artwork in layered form (white was separate from colours).  When he saw this he told me it was uselss to him and would have to be fixed.  I then asked if he could email me a copy of the file of corrected work, so that I would know for future how he wants the artwork presented and ready for print.  Instead, he tells me that would be impossible since it would include other clients work to be printed together on one decal sheet.  Honestly, not sure how difficult it would be to crop out my decals from the rest.

So yea, not sure if it was a language barrier, or what ...
