Noticed that no Merlin included in the Mustang.
And I think that's how they're keeping the costs down. Fewer parts. Less engineering. Less time developing and designing smaller parts. Smart move on their part. If they come out with a filleted tail, I'll buy one of those.
I think there is more to it than that. I have heard that their new 32nd Fw 190A kit has a lovely engine included, yet its a fraction of the price of older Hasegawa kits. And a few years back i got their new 72nd Ju 88A-4 and compared that to the Hase kits i have. Revell did not skimp on anything, the detail looks amazing yet it is less than half the price of compareble, and older, Hase kits and selling for less than the Italeri 88 kit.
I don't know how Revell are doing it, but as long as they keep it up, its fine by me.
