Noticed that no Merlin included in the Mustang.

 

 

 

And I think that's how they're keeping the costs down.  Fewer parts.  Less engineering.  Less time developing and designing smaller parts.  Smart move on their part.  If they come out with a filleted tail, I'll buy one of those.

 

 

 

 

I think there is more to it than that. I have heard that their new 32nd Fw 190A kit has a lovely engine included, yet its a fraction of the price of older Hasegawa kits. And a few years back i got their new 72nd Ju 88A-4 and compared that to the Hase kits i have. Revell did not skimp on anything, the detail looks amazing yet it is less than half the price of compareble, and older, Hase kits and selling for less than the Italeri 88 kit.

I don't know how Revell are doing it, but as long as they keep it up, its fine by me.

 

I agree with Bish. I have the ROG 1/32 FW190F-8 in my stash and it is a gorgeous kit down to the full engine which can be a kit by itself. I bought it when it first came out and was $38 at a local hobby shop. The same applies to the ROG 1/32 Arado float plane that has a full engine included and tons of additional details and that one also went for well under $40.

Cool! I hope that Mustang turns out to be as good as it looks. I just can't shell out for the Tamiya lol.

Noticed that no Merlin included in the Mustang.  For those in the states that want something more, and want to show open cowling, might pick up their -B Berlin Express from HL with the coupon, involve quite a bit of scratching though, or hacking most of the nose off the -B and grafting into the -D. 

There is a 3rd one from the front showing the top of the wings. You can see where the cockpit came away. Not sure how the fuselage ended up that way.

I had noticed that staining. Seeing as this was its first operational flight, i think your right in that it did not take long to stain.

Nice pics Bish!  I had not seen those before.  When I read about the sortie, I had the impression that the rest of the plane was completely destroyed by fire.

Note the exhaust staining on the bottom of the fin.  I guess this happened pretty quick to operational Uhus.

I suppose to save space, one could model Streib's machine post-sortie, when the forward fuselage broke off and slid to a stop on it's side, with Streib and his radar man still strapped in their seats. You could say the rest of the plane went up in a fireball.  

 

There are a few pics of the cockpit and the rest of it post crash. You could do them as 2 seperate pieces, one with the pit, and one with the rest.

As you can see, no mottleing.

Guys, I think the Uhu is an A-0 variant with the smaller antenna array. Werner Streib's famous 5-victory sortie machine is one of the decal options.  But yeah, how many 1/32 He-219s can you fit in a house?

At least their recent Fw-190s and latest P-51D are reasonably sized as well as bargain priced (at least in the US).

 

I think that UHU kit has both the A-0 and A-2 options. Streibs aircraft is the one pictured on the box, though it should be all blue rather than motteled.

I've got the A-7 kit in the stash, and yep, it does look big. problem with aircraft like the 219 is although its a very nice aircraft, the markings and colour scheme options are limited. Its basically motteled with either a blue or black underside. The protypes had some variety such as all black or all blue, as the one on the box should be. But thats it. At least with subjects like the Bf 109 or P-51 there is more variety.

A Revell 152 would deffinetly be welcome, as would an Ho 229 or Do 335 to compete with the high priced ZM kits. I would also like to see a Do 17, Fw 200 and He 177 in this scale. I live in hope.

Yes I usualy find that the new Revell and ROG releases give you a lot and then some more bang for your buck. Like the ROG Me262 night fighter is gorgeous and again, 1/32 and under $40.

Yes it surprised me too since the A-5 and A-2 have been out for a while. The reviews say different markings, improved instructions and a couple of different parts but still basically the same as the original release. Still a very nice but gargantuan sized model.

I was hoping a release of a 1/32 Ta-152 with the usual crammed details and the ROG price tag under $40.

I haven't seen the kit personally but there has been much discussion about it over on Large Scale Planes and apparently it really is all that and a bag of chips.  It has received some very good feedback and positive reviews.  It doesn't come with a filleted tail, only the cut down spine.  They are saying that the bang for the buck is outstanding.

The UHU has been out a couple of months, not sure why they did another one when there are so many other subjects they could cover. Still goung to get that at some point though. I have done the subject on the box in 72nd scale and would not mind doing it in 32nd.
